About JSF Therapy Services

Feeling. Revealing. Healing.

One spoken word at a time.

Just. Speak. Freely.

Just Speak Freely was birthed from the idea that healing can be cultivated in a safe (protected) space that allows for us to feel our deepest, innermost feelings, to reveal them through the power of our words and to heal the parts of us that hold the most hurt. JSF believes in the necessity of speaking your truth to power while integrating vulnerability, courage, & strength in order to heal and become the best version of ourselves. Vulnerability is essential to the healing process and once we learn to embrace it, we begin to heal those parts of us that foster the trauma, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem that impact the way we live and exist in the world.

Just Speak Freely Therapy Services provides space for you to understand that your voice has power and that whatever it is causing you distress does not have to silence you, no matter how painful or shameful the words may feel.

Hey! My name is Khira Fryar and I’m a licensed clinical social worker and marriage and family therapist. I graduated from Syracuse University in 2016 with my MSW (Masters in Social Work) and my MFT (Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy). I became licensed to practice therapy in the state of New York in 2016. I’m extremely passionate about holistic healing and wholeheartedly believe in the power of therapy. Growing up in a traditional black family, I understand the stigma that may come with addressing mental health issues within marginalized and underrepresented communities. This is why I place so much emphasis, effort and energy in dispelling these stigmas and stereotypes so that everyone can have the capacity to live their lives as freely as humanly possible.

My work has involved a passion for working with youth and adults who experience trauma, depression, anxiety, and grief and loss. Additionally, I specialize in helping couples and families navigate their most difficult problems and thrive on providing skills and tools to help them learn how to best communicate within their relationships. I don’t subscribe to a particular treatment approach since I don’t think that “one size fits all” when it comes to therapy. However, I do align with approaches such as: trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, emotionally focused family therapy and other approaches that seem to fit for my client(s). Nonetheless, my ultimate desire is that you experience your healing and personal breakthrough using whatever approach fits for you.

So that’s a little about me. Now, let’s get to know you!

Let’s Speak Freely!
